“I
don’t think so” is the first response of most brides and “Cool, can we
do it honey?” is the first response of most grooms. Digital photography
is fine for family reunions and posting pictures online, but who wants
those kind of pictures for your wedding?
You’d be quite surprised at the quality of digital photos done properly
by a professional. Cameras are available that take as good or better quality
pictures than taken by an expensive, traditional Hasselblad or a Bronica.
Photos look crisp and clear, not the grainy pictures you remember seeing
years ago.
Instead
of film, digital cameras have a memory chip. The photos can be downloaded
from the camera to a computer on site. This enables you and the photographer
to determine if the photos are turning out the way you want them to. If
there are any problems, you see them instantly and can re-shoot the photos.
Once
they are downloaded, you can email them all over the world, print proofs to
show friends and family, view them in the limo as you drive to the
reception, even set up a slide show at your reception of the pictures you
took that afternoon!
After
the wedding you can review your photos with your photographer on a computer
screen. Retouching is easy and the options are endless. You can have your
teeth straightened, erase wrinkles, minimize or remove a scar, cover a
blemish, remove reflections from eye glasses, or fix the broken fence in the
background of your pictures.
Digital
photography enables you and your photographer to perfect your photos. With
traditional film, retouching is arduous and requires hours and hours of
labor. Digital photography has many other benefits and is becoming as
popular as traditional photography.
Wedding Photography FAQ's
I
strive to take an almost unlimited amount of images! However, it would
depend on which of my “Wedding Packages” you would like to
choose from, number of locations, and the time between the ceremony and
locations.
Unlike
most Photographers, I’ve structured my “Wedding Packages”
to include a “Photo Cd” (Digital Negatives) for you!
Yes, definitely.
Because I do my best to let you enjoy your special day with relatives
and guests and not taking you away for this picture and that picture.
In order for that to happen, meeting, planning and scheduling before the
wedding is very important. With a clear plan and schedule, we can work
in an unrushed and relaxed manner so that we will not miss any important
photos. Consultation is a must.
It is important to be comfortable with the interaction and photographic
styles of the photographer that you choose for this most special occasion.
This is the single most important part of choosing any wedding photographer.
Any discomfort you might have with a particular photographer comes through
in the images taken.
My previous clients give me high marks for both my personal interaction
and photographic style. As a matter of fact...... if you would like a
list of references, just let me know.
This
is usually done a few months before the wedding. Many couples choose to
hold the photo session anywhere but in a studio. I like to take the engagement
photos at a favorite park, at your home, or a special landmark.
The photo session typically produces a series of relaxed, casual images
of the couple. Photos include holding hands while strolling through the
park, standing next to a bridge relaxing together, doing a sport or hobby
you both enjoy or relaxing under a favorite shade tree. The session is
done within the many scenic areas in Calgary or out of town. Mileage rates
will apply to locations outside the city.
The engagement session will serve a number of important purposes. First,
it will get you accustomed to working with your photographer, making the
interaction between you on your wedding day more comfortable and efficient.
It will also give me the photographer a better idea of what you and your
fiancée are like as photo subjects.
Of course, the session will also result in some great photos. Some couples
choose to put the engagement session photos in their own special album
or folio and display them at their reception. Some choose to have a signature
matte where guests can sign the matte.
Yes
& no… I try to keep my “Wedding Package” prices
as low as possible. Therefore, I can either receive payment for this when
you receive your “Engagement Images”, or I can customize the
pricing into one of my “Wedding Packages” that you desire.
To
view my Wedding Packages and Prices, simply follow these steps:
1. For the Fall to Spring Wedding Packages: "Click
here for Package Pricelists."
I
consider my prices to be extremely competitive. Most photographers don't
list their prices on the internet for a reason. If you do find someone
a lot less expensive than me.... Be aware & ask some questions!
Many photographers do not include the Digital Negatives, the retouching
of the images, and etc. into their "Wedding Package" pricing.
I do.
Expensive?!
Perhaps you would like to take a look at these guys...

and

I do use the best materials and tools available to produce the finest
images for you. My work with you does not end after the wedding. Hours
& hours are spent for each wedding which includes pre-wedding consultation,
editing images, enhancing images; time spent getting to and working with
a Photo-Lab for your proofs, and delivering your beautiful photos and
Photo Cd to you!
I must also constantly maintain and update my equipment in order to stay
with the constant changes in the industry, especially in the digital development
I
expect myself to be with you for the time beginning and ending as agreed
in the contract of the “Wedding Package” that you have chosen.
Usually we will set up a photography schedule at our “Consultation”
about ten days before the wedding to discuss it. I can stay beyond the
agreed contract time at overtime charges.
From
experience, it sometimes happens that I am wanted to stay at an event
longer then originally agreed upon. If this is the case, when my Photography
service time is completed that we had originally agreed upon in the Wedding
Package that you have chosen, I will tactfully mention this to you
and it will be up to you to decide at this time if you would like me to
stay longer to photograph. Overtime is a flat fee of $70.00 per hour.
This
decision is up to you...from my supplier at: www.technicare.com
and www.prophosupply.com
Or I can go ahead and choose one for you, depending on your price range.
However, there is so much variety out there now that the consumer can
find great deals to suit individual tastes. At present I do not have a
Proof Album or a Wedding
Album worked into my “Wedding Packages.” However,
I can certainly customize one according to your wishes.
Yes!!!
I like to take full advantage of photographing Digital. I consider myself
a perfectionist and so I like to examine each of my images & do editing
& touch-up as I see it, to give you the very best quality. However
prevention in a lot of cases is better than cure...I recommend proper
make up and non-glare eyeglasses. In some cases I can only do my so much.
All
samples you see here are photographed by me. You will be getting me as
your Photographer.
I don’t
unless it’s specifically requested, as the extra cost would carry
on to you. Again I try and keep my costs down as much as I can while still
maintaining the highest quality. The only times where I usually call for
an assistant is to help me carry and watch over some of my extra equipment.
Of course
I don’t mind your guests photographing excessively on your very
special wedding day. However, I don’t like guest photographers jumping
in front of me during an important shot. But in this day and age, it's
not very possible to control. However, as the official photographer contracted
to produce my best work for you, I will let the bride and groom know if
a guest does make it difficult for me. Normally I politely, but assertively
say to your guests that have cameras in hand that I would like to always
shoot first and then they can fire away immediately afterwards.
I
prefer experienced professional wedding Videograhers. They usually know
how to work their way around a professional photographer at a wedding.
However, it is a possibility that an inexperienced wedding Videographer
might stand in the middle of the aisle in front of the photographer. It
has happened that they will even tell a Photographer to get out of their
way. I try to develop a good rapport with the Videographer as soon as
possible so that we can strive to work together efficiently to get the
best results for you.
We have
a couple of options. At the “Consultation” I will suggest
some alternate “Indoor” locations for the “Portrait”
photos for you to go see and consider in case of rain. For some of these
locations, we have to reserve a little in advance and possibly pay a fee.
Of course I will be checking the weather forecast and if it looks like
there is a good possibility of rain, we should make a decision about reserving
an indoor location about 3-4 days before the wedding day. Or I can look
at renting a Photographer associate’s Studio by the hour at an extra
cost. The Background would look something like this: www.www.sunchasersphotography.com/Photogallery/Weddings/crw/crw.asp?Page=1&ShowSub=Thumbnails
No...You
don't really have to, but it would be nice. I'm only human and do get
hungry after hours of work like everyone else. I work extremely hard throughout
the course of your special day, and build up an appetite.
Dates
are reserved on a first-paid, first-served basis. A non-refundable retainer
is required to secure the services of my photography services for your
special day. Sixty days before the event, one half of the unpaid balance
is due. The final payment is due within seven days of the event. I accept
cash & cheques only.
Sunchasers
Photography reserves the time and date agreed upon, thereby making no
other reservations for this day. For this reason all if you should wish
to cancel my Photography services before sixty days of the event, the
full amount of your retainer will be returned to you. However, if the
cancellation is within 60 days of the event, I will retain the full amount
of your retainer.
No
need to worry! I guarantee that if something should happen preventing
myself from performing my services at your special occasion, I will dispatch
another of my other highly qualified photographer associates to cover
your event and reduce your contract fee in half.
This will
be discussed and negotiated at our consultation. I’m not looking
for any profit from this, only to cover my gas. However if you live more
then 100 kms away from the city, I will expect you to pay for my accommodation
and breakfast.
Other
Expenses would include: Additional Reprints, Enlargements, or more then
1 Photo Cd copy as we originally agreed upon. Also I would appreciate
reimbursement for Parking fees, courier and postage expenses.
To
view the images, simply follow these steps:
1. Go to this Website at: www.demo.myportraitgallery.com
2. To view one of the sample Galleries; type in the password; "demo".
"There you will easily find your Wedding Images once they
are posted and I give you your password to give to all of your friends
and family"
Yes!
However they would still go through me, as any Internet company like “Photostockplus.com”
would charge you extra. Also the images there will be Low-Resolution and
for viewing purposes only. Too avoid your guests paying this extra cost,
they would follow these steps:
1. They would follow the above instructions to find your Wedding Images.
2. They would copy down the image # of each image that they choose to
purchase.
3. They would e-mail me with a list of all of the Image #’s; and
I would personally give them their prices and answer any other questions
that they may have.
